Event Details
These small organisms with an amazing capacity to grow in places too nutrient-poor or dry to support higher plants are small, but when viewed up close, they show remarkable intricacy in the structures they use to capture sunlight and reproduce. We'll view close-up photographs showing the life cycle and ecology of these charming but often overlooked members of our flora, learning how to recognize a few of the most common ones.
Guest speaker Dr. Robert Klips is an associate professor emeritus in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at Ohio State University, and the author of the new reference book from Ohio University Press, Common Mosses, Liverworts, and Lichens of Ohio A Visual Guide.
Books for sale and signing will be available after the program.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Athens Public Library.
