"I have been a cabinetmaker, furniture maker and woodturner since 1978, serving the Athens, Ohio area. There is an abundance of wood in our local hardwood forests.  The variety of local species provides an endless inspiration. I like to start the process of harvesting with deadfall trees in the woods.  Woodturning is a calming therapeutic endeavor. I concentrate on a few "signature" forms. Revisiting the same forms over and over again creates subtle variations. I experiment with several types of finishes for the bowls. Some of my favorite finishes are catalyzed  lacquer, milk paint with clear acrylic and a walnut oil/beeswax mixture."  --Tom Bennett
