Program Description

Event Details

How can we, as individuals, stem the decline of wild bird populations in the Ohio and the United States?  There are things each of us can do to serve a collective effort to enhance the survival and good health of our precious birds.  Our guest speaker is an avian ecologist with broad interest in understanding how birds respond to environmental conditions. Her current research focus is to understand how birds use habitat patches within the human dominated landscape so we can make management recommendations to improve habitat and make our landscapes safer for birds. Her research also includes understanding how food availability, temperature, parasites, and habitat structure affect parental care behaviors, reproductive success, and survival.

Our guest speaker is Dr. Kelly A. Williams, Professor of Instruction and Rush Elliott Professor.  She is on the faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences at Ohio University, in the  Ohio Center for Ecology & Evolutionary Studies, and directs the Williams Avian Ecology Lab.
