"In our chaotic times, I find my imagination returning to the magical worlds of my childhood, populated with mysterious creatures and other odd phenomena. By placing two unconnected objects together, creating a third, more absurd one, the world turns sideways for a bit, disrupting my usual view, and I uncover different paths to travel. If I’m vulnerable enough, I find better answers—or at least have a good laugh or two along the way. Through the medium of cardboard, I craft sculptures based on the wondrous illustrations of Gregory Fromenteau, who juxtaposes animals with man-made forms. With the shadow boxes, I tell the stories of normal animals experiencing not-so-normal adventures. In both mediums, I entangle the wonder of a child with the whimsy of an adult who doesn’t know any better." --Wesley Marsh
