"With my wife Sherry, I enjoy walking in the woods, where nature's beauty fuels my inspiration for carving.  I am grateful to Clyde Beasley, who introduced me to the art of carving.  Over the past four years, I have honed my skills in chainsaw and hand-carving, and eventually launched my own carving business, Two Feathers Carving, sharing my passion and selling my creations.  Each piece reflects a bit of my journey and a love for this craft." -- Steve Norris

Our featured artist, Steve Norris, was born in 1951 in Dayton, Ohio.  He moved to Florida in 1973, where he married and welcomed two wonderful children into the world.  After 25 years in the Sunshine State, he returned to his roots in Athens, Ohio, in 1994, where he has enjoyed the vibrant community here ever since.  His ancestors played a significant role in founding Strouds Run State Park, which has made living in this beautiful area so special for the general public.  He had the privilege of working at the park for more than 20 years before retiring from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).  In June of 2024, Steve embarked on a new chapter in his life by getting married to his second wife, Sherry, who volunteers at the Southeast Ohio History Center.  He and Sherry enjoy actively contributing to our community, both of them being proud members of the Athens Art Guild, the Athens Conservancy and the SEO History Center.  Steve also is an avid ham radio operator.
