Event Details
Terry Hermsen's latest collection is in conversation with the paintings of Cadine Navarro, who uses micro-sound recordings of dry, dormant prairie seeds to make suminagashi or "floating ink" images that bring our attention to the smallest of beings among us. During a time of great hunger for personal and societal change, Hermsen's responding book forms a triptych with its illustrations, haiku, and micro-essays exploring responses to Navarro's work and how it speaks to our times. His presentation will include discussion, readings, and musical performance, all accompanied by a visual slideshow.
Local ecological organizations like Community Food Initiatives, Rural Action's Appalachian Ohio Native Plant Nursery, and others will be present for hands-on activities and info sharing following the reading.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Athens County Libraries.
