Program Description

Event Details

The roles of Generals Samuel Holden Parson and James Mitchell Varnum in the founding of Ohio are often overlooked as they both passed away in the second year of Marietta's settlement in 1789. However, their leadership in some of the most famous and groundbreaking events of the American Revolution should never be forgotten. Join us as we discuss the amazing lives of two often missed Ohio founding fathers and Revolutionary War patriots.

Our guest speaker is Scott Britton, the executive director of The Castle Museum in Marietta, Ohio.

Britton is a frequent speaker on a plethora of topics related to the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and multicultural history in Southeastern Ohio.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Athens County Libraries.
