If you're currently renting or planning to, join us at this after-hours program for a discussion about tenants' rights. We'll briefly cover a wide range of topics, including: 

  • legal requirements for rental housing safety and habitability,
  • repair requests,
  • unlawful entry,
  • peaceful enjoyment,
  • rent escrow,
  • court orders,
  • local code enforcement,
  • suing landlords to recover damages,
  • housing discrimination,
  • landlord sexual misconduct,
  • tenant protections from landlord retaliation,
  • security deposits,
  • predatory leasing arrangements,
  • lease termination,
  • tenant advocacy, and
  • tenant organizing.

About our presenter: Damon Krane is Housing Information Coordinator for the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO), a founding member of United Athens County Tenants (UACT), and a 25-year veteran community organizer who got his start in Nelsonville. COHHIO is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness and securing safe, fair, quality, affordable housing for all. UACT is Southeast Ohio’s only tenant-led, tenant advocacy group. Additional members of UACT will be present to help answer questions.
