Originally from Northwest Ohio, artist Jake Fields, 30, has called Amesville area home for the past seven years. His wife, April, was born and raised in Athens County and the couple decided that this was the place they wanted to live.

"I have always gravitated towards making art, especially drawing, ever since I was a child," Fields said. "With experimenting with drawing and painting throughout my years, it wasn’t until about a year and a half ago that art became my full-time passion and job. As I was experiencing loss and navigating through depression, I discovered that art was a great outlet for me."

Fields enjoys depicting faces and the human body, doing portraits of people and animals, as well as plein air drawings of Athens County landscapes. His drawings are created using soft pastels (pencil and stick), charcoal and graphite. His portraits are done freehand based on high-quality photographs.
