Event Details

On exhibit on the Circulation Area Wall and in the Glass Display Cases: October 1st thru October 29th.

This is part of a dual exhibition.  For the Library's half of the exhibition visitors can view the legacy of Brian Blauser's over half century of concert photography of regional musicians and stars of Mountain Stage.  The other half of this exhibition is on display at the Southeast Ohio History Center, which will open one day earlier on September 1st. The SEO History Center will display Blauser's photography of the people and landscapes of Appalachia through the decades.

When Brian Blauser was 10 years old, he developed a love of photography and knew that's what he wanted to be. His career spans nearly 65 years and includes a wide variety of subjects and assignments, from early work as an Ohio University student, to three years as a U.S. Army motion picture photographer, from early film work in California, to the capture of images of Appalachia, its people, buildings and industry. He has photographed healthcare clients, weddings, real estate, and remains today the archival photographer for the popular music venue Mountain Stage in West Virginia. -- Milena Miller, curator

A reception will be held on Tuesday, October 12th, from 6pm till 8pm.  Local pianist Bob Montalto will perform for the celebration from 6:30pm till 7:30pm.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Athens Public Library.
