The Thursday Channel: Guest Author, John Thorndike

With The Passionate Sister, John Thorndike, a critically acclaimed novelist and memoirist who lives in our region, has brought together his two literary passions: writing about real people he has known and stepping into the fictive question: what if? For instance, what if his mother had not died an untimely death, but had become involved in the joys and vicissitudes of evolving family that came after her historical death.  What roles might she have played?  That is the subject of his new hybrid novel which he will discuss and from which he will give sample readings.  Copies of his new book will be available for purchase and autographing after the presentation.
