Event Details

November 5, 1930, proved to be one of the worst days in Ohio’s history. An explosion at Sunday Creek Coal Mine No. 6 took the lives of 82 men: 72 miners, Sunday Creek officials and guests. On Tuesday, October 31st, Ron Luce, author of the upcoming book The Millfield Mine Disaster will present on what is known about the event. Luce has done extensive research that provides information about what happened, why it happened and how it could have been prevented. Luce will provide a brief history of the mine itself and will provide findings that were kept from the public for years.
