Learning about the Paper Arts: Fine Paper from the Kozo Tree

This presentation will cover the long, rich history of making paper from the kozo mulberry (broussonetia papynifera) in East Asian tradition. Along with many other visuals, see real branches of the plant, some of the traditional harvesting equipment (sugeta), and samples of the final product. We'll also discuss how the fiber is processed and learn about the annual kozo harvest day at community farms in the area, which usually takes place in mid-November.
