Be a part of music history! In 1997, Wynton Marsalis became the first Jazz artist to receive a Pulitzer Prize
in music, thanks to this landmark oratorio, an ambitious, sprawling
work that explores themes of slavery and freedom. The piece
received its Rose Theater debut in 2013, with baritone Gregory Porter,
scat-singing legend Kenny Washington, and contralto Paula West.Our
guest host and jazz ambassador is Dr. Arthur Cromwell, Associate
Professor in the School of Media Studies at Ohio University's School of
Music, whose documentary work has dealt with jazz history and African
