Join local plant expert Frank Porter to learn about a few of Ohio's native plants and their benefits. His how-to talk takes place on the grounds of the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Wistendahl Garden there, planted and maintained by volunteers, contains 300+ native and endangered species and is a recognized Monarch Watch Station.

About our speaker: After a career as a Native American scholar, Dr. Frank W. Porter created Porterbrook Native Plants, growing hundreds of species native to Ohio, West Virginia and the surrounding states. Although the nursery's now closed, Dr. Porter continues to collect seeds from interesting native plants in this region.

Reach him at porterbrooknative@yahoo.com with questions about native plants. Also find his book _Back to Eden: landscaping with native plants_ in our collection at https://search.myacpl.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=288230&query_desc=kw%2Cwrdl%3A%20Frank%20Porter
