Program Description

Event Details

Gear up with skills and knowledge to drive yourself through some tough situations. In this 6-week course for teens and tweens led by a NAMI Athens Community Health Worker, we'll talk together about topics related to mental health. So buckle up and come to the library all six weeks for snacks, conversation, and friendship!

This week covers mental health warning signs and suicide, with emphasis on depression being a medical condition, not a choice or a character flaw. Youth will learn when and how to seek support, how to encourage others to do so, and we’ll talk about what really happens when you call a crisis hotline. Teens will collaborate on public awareness posters to hang up, detailing the warning signs of crisis and resources people can utilize when they need to reach out.
