The English language has a most unusualstory and has changed radically over the centuries. This series will
take us through its fascinating history.
From the language of Beowulf to the
language of Chaucer, and from the language of Shakespeare to the
language of Austen... to the language of today.
This will be an epic journey of
surprises about what we take for granted in the words we speak.
You'll never think of English in the same way again!
Our presenter and discussion leader:
Dr. Marsha Dutton, a scholar of the English language and its
literature. Sponsored by the Friends of the Athens Public Library.
