Wess Harris, historian/sociologist and OU alum, will give an overview of the early
Mine War Era and discuss how his books on mining and social conflict in
Appalachia came into being. In particular, he will highlight his
nationally reviewed anthology Written in Blood, including new findings on the treatment of women in the coal camps. Q&A to follow, along with time to explore one-of-a-kind
artifacts from the When Miners March Traveling Museum. Copies of
Harris' books will also be available for purchase.
