Have you been finding it more and more challenging to get your garden to thrive as our climate shifts in SE Ohio?

In this program, OSU Agriculture & Natural Resource Educator Ed Brown will share strategies to help your garden be more resilient, covering the following topics:

  • Soil. It’s Alive! – Nutrients and tillage
  • In the Zone – Planting Zones and what they mean for plant selection
  • Living in a Dry County – Managing water resources for your garden
  • Decisions, Decisions – Flowers or veggies, or a little of both?

 

Presenter Bio:

 

Ed Brown has been the Ohio State University Extension Educator in Athens County for 10 years. He spent an additional 9 years as an Agricultural Educator in Arkansas.  His background is in livestock production, forages, home/commercial horticulture, forestry and natural resources. He has degrees from the University of Florida in agriculture and The University of Missouri in Extension Education. Ed is originally from Athens County, growing up in the Amesville area, where he attended Amesville Elementary before moving out of state. He has taken over his grandparent’s farm where he is restoring the old home on a daily basis and plants new fruit trees, brambles, and ornamentals that keep showing up at his house.
