Program Description

Event Details

Join us in welcoming Dr. JEB Bowen of the Clarke-May Museum, who will speak on the Pickaway County area, 500 BC to AD 1000.  Learn about Pickaway County’s prehistory, and see how The Plains fits in to the broader ancient landscape of our state.

The Scioto Valley was home to the greatest concentration of Hopewell-culture earthworks in Ohio, including the famous ancient circle that lent its name to the modern city of Circleville, Ohio. Dr. Bowen is a lifelong archaeologist who has worked around the state of Ohio, but today he curates the extensive archaeological collection at Circleville’s Clarke-May museum.
