Fall Book Club: The Turn of the Screw (Part 2 of 3) [VIRTUAL PROGRAM]

American author, Henry James bridged the eras of realism and Modernism in fiction.  In terms of the sheer quality of his prose, critics agree it ranks among the finest in the English language.  James is the master of depicting the subtleties and complexities of the human psyche and its evolving patterns, tracking the movements between thought and action.  Is it any wonder that James came to write a horror novel, given its opportunities for exploring human psychology in situations that are ostensibly supernatural or paranormal?  We will examine the novel featured (the inspiration for Netflix hit mini-series, The Haunting of Bly Manor), as well as several ghost stories he wrote, all of which display his approach to horror as a phenomenon that might (or might not be) all in one's mind.
