On Exhibit in the Glass Display Cases, March 2-30.

"In 1971, a huge second-hand store opened 3 blocks from my house called Quality Mart. It was full of stuff from the 1940s and 1950s; among them was a very large selection of ceramic salt n’ pepper shakers. I loved them immediately--particularly, those of various types of birds--especially wood ducks. They are very colorful, small, and exhibit wonderfully droll humor--they put a grin on my face! Most were made in Japan post the Second World War.

Since 1976 when I relocated to Athens, they have been slim pickins, to say the least. I am a thrift-store/antique mall/flea market maven. Typically, I’d find 1 or 2 pairs a year. Now, going on 50 years hence, I have almost 'reeled in' this ceramic salt n’ pepper collecting mania." -- the collector

Exhibit reception: Tuesday, March 14th at 6pm.
