Wastes can be so disgusting that they seem spooky. This Halloween, join us for a presentation about how scary wastes can be upgraded for beneficial use, supporting healthier soils and lowering carbon emissions at the same time! Learn about novel strategies that can be deployed in our communities for making fuel and fertilizer from brewery wastes and home septic systems.

Sarah C. Davis is an associate professor in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service at Ohio University, and is an expert in ecosystem ecology and bioenergy systems. Dr. Davis' research includes system-level energy conversion efficiency, carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas fluxes in managed system and has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency,  the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Sugar Bush Foundation. She currently teaches courses in Ecology and Environmental Issues, Bioenergy, Environmental Science and Public Policy, and Strategies for Resilient Agriculture.
