Participants in this 90-minute, hands-on session about the Ohio Foodways Project
(OFP) are encouraged to bring family stories related to food and farming
to share in small groups, where we'll practice listening to fellow
participants and learn how to collect their stories. OFP's
goal is to recognize, represent, and preserve the vast knowledge of
food culture held by the people of Ohio. The OFP is a unique
collaborative ethnography–a space where photos, essays, oral histories,
poems, drawings, and videos are submitted by everyday people and combine
to tell our collective food story from many diverse perspectives. Our
workshop leader: Dr. Lisa Trocchia-Baļķīts, an anthropology scholar in
residence with Ohio University's Food Studies Theme. For more
information, visit: www.ohiofoodways.org or email Lisa at info@ohiofoodways.org.
