Event Details

People all over the world have told fun stories about instigating fellowship, cooperation and community-building for centuries.  Librarian Todd will read and tell traditional and classic stories on this set of themes.  First we will hear the folk fable first collected by the Brothers Grimm, "The Bremen Town Musicians".  Next will be the French version of the popular European folktale, "Stone Soup".  Finally, we will have a reading of a literary folktale out of the American West, "The Luck of Roaring Camp" by Bret Harte.  Following these tales we will hold a brief discussion between audience members and the presenter of these stories.

Accompanying image is a painting by American illustrator, William Ladd Taylor from 1910, to illustrate Bret Harte's classic story, "The Luck of Roaring Camp."
