Using first-person stories from the newly released anthology Not Far from Me: Stories of Opioids and Ohio, community conversations feature community members facilitating in-depth discussions to encourage critical, historically-informed dialogue around opioid use, with the aim of reducing stigma.All are welcome. Discussion theme: Moving Beyond StereotypesThe opioid epidemic has received considerable attention in the news and in public policymaking. But this is only the most recent in a long history of drug epidemics in the U.S. In this activity, we explore the way that race has shaped empathy toward drug users.This event is planned and led by a community group using the library's free meeting spaces.
