Featured songs include the following:
“We Want to Sing” by Roger Emerson
We enjoy participating in the March Disability Awareness Month activities planned by the Athens Co. Board of Developmental Disabilities. Even with COVID, the choir wanted to share a special song for all to hear. This lovely tune composed by Roger Emerson shares a special message of love through music. The choir wants “the world to know that they are loved. With our music, we can make the world a better place.” We hope you enjoy our rendition of this beautiful message through song.
“Proud of Our Veterans” by Teresa Jennings
We wanted to salute veterans in and around Athens County on Veterans’ Day 2020 with this song composed by Teresa Jennings. Choir members love patriotic music, so this will be one of our new favorites for sure! One reason the choir enjoyed this song was simply the “thank you” repeated at the end because they are an appreciative bunch!
“God Bless America” by Irving Berlin
We were thrilled to be able to produce this video specifically for the Athens City Commission on Disabilities Athena Award Ceremony held in November 2020. What an honor to provide entertainment for this annual event which honors Athenians who work to serve others. This well known song by Irving Berlin is familiar to many in the United States. The choir loves to sing it and celebrate all the wonderful freedoms we enjoy in our country.
“Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver
We love to brag about their home, Athens County. That’s why we took this familiar John Denver and friends tune and adapted it to fit our area. There is no doubt that Athens County is “almost heaven” with the beautiful hills of “Appalachia [and] Hocking River.” When asked what is their number one favorite song, most choir members will mention this one. This was our first video during the 2020 Pandemic, but you will enjoy the smiles as members sing this familiar and fun tune.
