Event Details
Our guest performer had the rare privilege of taking private lessons at Dartmouth College from Lydia Hoffmann-Behrendt (1891-1971). Ever since, he's just kept practicing and playing "purely as an amateur--literally 'a lover' of the piano." Kruse trained himself on selections from the endless bounty of Baroque, Classical, and Romantic piano literature.
This performance will feature pieces by Bach and Chopin. Kruse also specializes in arranging piano solos originally composed for other instruments, and we may get to hear an example of this, as well. Outside his dedication to piano music, Kruse served for 24 years as the librarian of the Athens County Law Library, retiring in 2018.
First Set: pieces by Bach, all in the Key of G.
Second Set: pieces by Chopin, all in the Key of E.
Possible Encore Piece: Brahms Violin Sonata No. 3: the Adagio movement (arranged for piano by Edward Kruse)
