SIKH OHIO

Akash Pamarthy-Photographer

April 1-April 30, 2025

SIKH OHIO aims to capture the ending journey of Ohio’s Sikh diaspora- their triumphs, challenges and the delicate balance between preserving cultural roots while embracing the American society.  With April designated as Sikh Awareness month by the Ohio Senate, this photo project takes on an even greater meaning, celebrating the resilience and contributions of Sikh-Ameicans to civic life and ensure their role in American history is cherished.  By providing insights into Sikh cultural practices, addressing prejudices and exploring assimilation struggles, the project fosters understanding and appreciation between the Sikh community and wider Ohio society.  It celebrates the resilience and triumphs of Sikhs as they navigate identity,  heritage and belonging in a diverse cultural landscape.

On display on the Children's Area wall from April 1 thru April 30.
