The roles of Generals Samuel Holden Parsons and James Mitchell Varnum in the founding of Ohio are often overlooked as they both passed away in the second year of Marietta's settlement in 1789. However, their leadership in some of the most famous and groundbreaking events of the American Revolution should never be forgotten.
