Event Details

Join local writers Stephanie Kendrick and Bonnie Proudfoot as they read from new poetry collections published by Sheila-Na-Gig Editions, followed by a short open mic (consider bringing a poem of yours to share!) and a book signing with refreshments.

Bonnie Proudfoot's Household Gods explores the intersection of place and identity. Bonnie has lived in Athens since 1996. She was an Associate Professor of English at Hocking College for two decades. Her first novel, Goshen Road (Swallow Press, 2020) was named the WCONA Book of the Year and Longlisted for the PEN/Hemingway Award. She is a regular contributor to WOUB's Conversations from Studio B about Poetry, and her writing can be seen in literary journals, Women of Appalachia Anthologies, and I Thought I Heard a Cardinal Sing. Find her blog here.

Stephanie Kendrick's In Any of These Towns explores the quirky underbelly of small-town, rural America. Stephanie's other chapbook is Places We Feel Warm (Main St. Rag, 2020). She is also the editor of a semi-monthly newsletter, Periodical Poetry, and is the Major Unusual Incident Compliance Coordinator at the Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities, as well as a Councilwoman for the Village of Albany, where she lives with her gorgeous husband and their artistic son.
