Event Details
Interested in old maps, local history, the built and natural environment? Join us for an exploration of the W.E. Peters collection from Ohio University Archives and Special Collections.
In his time, local resident and historian William E. Peters (1857-1952) compiled hundreds of photographs of unique and at-risk features to create one of the most comprehensive records of Athens County history. He described these sites, including Indigenous mounds, family cemeteries and schoolhouses in meticulous detail. This event will introduce the life and legacy of W. E. Peters and offer attendees a chance to engage hands-on with the collection, as well as virtually through an interactive map.
