Indonesian Folk Tunes and Poetry

Join our guest pianist, Edy Panjaitan, for a joyful evening of Indonesian folksongs, celebrating the five major islands of Indonesia! Each song tells a unique story and reflects the rich cultural heritage of its region—from the spirited rhythms of Batak and Javanese traditions of Western Indonesia to the vibrant melodies of Dayak, Balinese, and Papuan cultures of Eastern Indonesia.

Let’s sing together and experience the beauty and diversity of Indonesia’s musical traditions.  We’ll also enjoy a special poetry reading by Amin, an Indonesian diaspora poet who will share a selection of fascinating and heartfelt poems.
