Event Details

Every culture on Earth passed through a stage of technological development between the javelin and the bow
& arrow. This was the atlatl: a javelin launcher!

The atlatl provided the javelin (or dart) the velocity needed to
lethally penetrate the hide of mastodon or woolly mammoth (or other
mega-fauna) from many yards away. Re-discovered in modern times, it is
now a device for sporting competition. Bulls-eye targets will be set up
with the same body mass resistance as the animals our ancestors once
hunted.

Hosted by the Southeast Ohio Chapter of the Ohio Atlatl Association.
