Climate-Friendly Building and Appalachian Opportunity

A growing population is placing demands on building and energy storage materials, which need to be produced in the most sustainable way possible to address climate change. Unfortunately, widely used materials and  technologies are from the last century or before. Researchers at Ohio University are developing next-generation building and energy materials that are readily sourced from Appalachia and can meet the needs of a growing world while reducing environmental impact. 

John Staser is a professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University and Assistant Director of the Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment. His background is in electrochemical systems, including fuel cells, electrolyzers, and batteries.
