Event Details
Learn about the events in the late 1500s and early 1600s that drove a small group of non-conformists out of England to Holland for a decade-- and from there onto the Mayflower for that famous 1620 voyage. There are an estimated 35 million descendants from the passengers on the Mayflower, and they are scattered everywhere. Enjoy a digital slide presentation based on things our guest speaker saw and learned in England, Holland, and New England while doing research for her books of historical fiction: Mayflower Chronicles: The Tale of Two Cultures, which tells the story of the first encounters between the Native Americans and the newly arrived English settlers and Mary Brewster’s Love Life: Matriarch of the Mayflower, a fictional autobiography of the author's ancestor, who was one of the four wives still alive a year after they reached North America.
Our guest speaker, Kathryn Haueisen, had a career in public relations, writing for magazines and newspapers, publishing books, and has decades of experience as a pastor who works with congregations and non-profit organizations.
