While the monstrosities of Jurassic Park disappeared 66 million years ago, we only have to look out the window to find living dinosaurs today in the form of birds. From Tyrannosaurus to turkeys, fossil records document an incredible evolutionary transition from giants weighing more than an African elephant to a humming bird weighing less than a 1/10th of an ounce. This talk will cover evidence supporting the evolution of modern birds from extinct dinosaurs, plus methods paleontologists use to study these fascinating creatures.Guest speaker: Samuel Gutherz, graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences at Ohio University.
